Missed Homework and School Work

Parents must send a note or call before 9 a.m. if a child is out in order to obtain schoolwork and homework from the teacher/s. Schoolwork and homework are left at the office for pick-up by parent/guardian or  designee at the High School Office for J.H.S. and H.S. students and Elementary Office for K through 6.

Dismissal Policy
Absolutely no changes may be made in a student's regular dismissal routine unless a written note, signed by the parent/guardian is provided to the school. This includes releases made to another parent/guardian for  a play date, etc. The safety of each student is our priority.

Visitors
We are always glad to have visitors to our school buildings and grounds. However, for security reasons,  parents and other visitors are required to go directly to the High School Office if visiting the High School  or Middle School buildings, or to the Elementary School Office if visiting the Elementary School. The  School district requires that all visitors sign-in at the office, obtain a visitor's pass which must be worn,  and indicate who you are visiting within the building. Upon leaving the building, you need to return to  the office to sign out and to return the visitor pass. A visitor's book is maintained in each of the offices.  We thank you for caring about the safety of the children and taking the time to follow these procedures.   Letting others know about the visitor procedures is also helpful.

Absence Procedure

Important: Parent/guardian must notify the school no later than 9:00 a.rn. on any and each day that their child will not be in attendance.

Call 265-9254. The operator will direct you to the appropriate attendance office.

Important: Upon return to school, students must provide a note signed by the parent/guardian indicating the  date/s and reason for the absence in order for the absence to be considered an excused absence.

Remember - be safe, carry gloves and a hat in the backpack in case the weather changes. Play it safe… be prepared and stay warm.

Parking Procedures
In order to ensure safety and security on campus, we ask that visitors and parents adhere to the following guidelines when parking on school grounds:

Visitors and parents are asked not to park in numbered spaces during school hours (7:00AM to  2:45PM)

·         All parking spaces during after-school hours (including weekends) are available to visitors and parents ·         Visitor spaces are clearly labeled and available at the side entrance of the middle school (by the greenhouse) and front of the high school building. These spaces are clearly marked with signs.  We ask that these spaces be occupied no more than a maximum of 15 minutes.

·         Please note that violators will be towed at the owner’s expense ·         Parking is also available adjacent the softball field on Route 9D

We ask that you adhere to these guidelines in the interest of safety for our children and an efficient traffic flow on campus.  We also ask that all vehicles maintain a safe speed of not to more than 5mph while on campus grounds.

Philosophy of E-mail Communication

The Haldane Central School District ’s Long Range Plan for Technology provides for electronic mail for the purpose of enhancing communication among faculty and staff as well as providing a tool to support home-school-community relations. It is the belief of the District that e-mail can provide an additional communication resource for parents, guardians and teachers to communicate with one another.   While, in the past, not all teachers had access to e-mail, it is important to note that all teachers now have access to individual computer workstations and share resources to access their respective e-mail throughout the school day.   These guidelines support all policies and regulations of the District’s Computer Network Acceptable Use Policy.   Teacher e-mail addresses will be published via the District’s website to provide our parent/guardian community with this additional resource for communication purposes.

Teacher E-mail Guidelines

All teachers using District e-mail for parent/guardian communication will adhere to the policies and regulations of the District’s Computer Network Acceptable Use Policy for Staff.

Teachers will “check” their e-mail daily; however, they may respond to a parent/guardian e-mail through an e-mail, a telephone call or a written note to the parent/guardian. In general, teachers will respond to a parent/guardian e-mail contact in a timely fashion.

Confidential information and/or sensitive information shall not be sent via e-mail. E-mail shall not be used as a means to discuss sensitive issues such as student performance, discipline, incidents, suspensions, or personal information about any person: faculty, staff, student, parent or other individuals.

Teachers are not expected to provide individual homework assignments via e-mail.

District e-mail should not be considered private and the District does not guarantee privacy for electronic mail.

Teachers should exercise caution in sending and opening attachments in order to prevent the potential spread of computer viruses.

  Parent/Guardian E-mail Guidelines

Parents/guardians are invited to use e-mail as a line of communication and additional resource for enhancing parent/guardian/teacher relations.

Confidential information and/or sensitive information regarding any student shall not be sent via e-mail. E-mail shall not be used as a means to discuss sensitive issues such as student performance, discipline, incidents, suspensions, or personal information about any person: faculty, staff, student, parent or other individual.

In general, parents/guardians may anticipate a response from the respective teacher in a timely fashion, however, that response might be sent via a telephone call or a written note.

Parents/guardians should not expect to use e-mail as a means of retrieving homework assignments, grades, class schedules, etc.

Parents/guardians are advised that District email is not considered private and that the District does not guarantee privacy for electronic mail.

Parents should exercise caution in sending and opening attachments in order to prevent the potential spread of computer viruses.

Official notes (ex. Absences, excuses etc) should not be sent via e-mail.
